As mother of 2 young children I know juggling the working parent thing with raising a family and making sure the dog gets the occasional walk is not easy!
When I first got pregnant 7 years ago I was amazed by the quantity of confusing information out there on what I should and shouldn’t be doing to ensure my child the best start in life. I was at an advantage to question and pick through some of this in view of my profession, but even then, the practicalities of feeding one and then two young children (and myself) every day with little sleep was (and still is) pretty tough at times. This led me to wanting to share some of the things I’ve learnt about feeding children in the last 7 years, both the theory and the practice!
After many years of working with people suffering with Eating Disorders and weight problems I am passionate about helping people to have a positive and healthful relationship with food, and believe that this starts early in life. As a result, I work hard to promote the importance of early years nutrition and support pregnant women and new parents in ensuring the best start for their children and helping families establish healthful eating habits for life.
Information in relation to weaning practices, what to eat (and not eat) in pregnancy, reduce the risk of infant food allergies etc. is always being revised and updated as we learn knew things. Food Allergies, Sensory difficulties or Behavioural Issues can affect a child’s food choices and cause you to be anxious about whether they are eating what they need for health. I want you to go away with all the essential information, the bits that matter, and enjoy feeding your child. If I can take away the anxiety and give you confidence in an approach to good nutrition that suits your child and your family, then I’ll have achieved what I set out to do!
